Akin to folklore water nymphs who have the ability to take on the form of others, the glass receptacles of our Kelpie Bowls have been handcrafted and carefully manipulated to take on the form of their teak wood bases. It starts off with recycled glass being melted down at 2000*celsius. The molten glass is then mouth blown and gently pressed on to their bases which are roots of teak trees. This process allows the still molten vessels to fold over and capture every detail while ensuring it gets a good and stable hold on its base. The glasses are then left in kilns to cool slowly, a process that prevents the glass from cracking due to rapid differences between temperatures along as an important step to strengthening the glass. Kelpie bowls make great terrariums, aeriums, fish bowls, dioramas and even looks great as wooden glass sculptures on their own.
